Tabi are worn with Japanese traditional Kimono. They are distinguished from ordinary socks by the divided toes design and Kohaze clasp fastners. Tabi socks are worn with traditional formal footwear Zori and sometimes with less-formal footwear Geta.

Rare, but any possible slight odor from purchased wardrobe originates from Japanese storing and preservation means of silk wardrobe products and is not related to aging or molding. My wardrobes are generally in excellent condition otherwise explicitly expressed in description section and any orders will fade away over the time.
Most of my wardrobes are made of luxury textiles and are not meant to be hand/machine washed. Please research and consult your local dry cleaners for their experiences/expertise in handling high quality fabrics for best result.
